1979 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup - Air Lift 1000 Air Helper Springs for Coil Springs - Front

  • Air Springs
  • Front Axle Suspension Enhancement
  • Light Duty
  • Air Lift

1,000-lb Capacity. Air Lift 1000 molded polyurethane air springs fit inside your Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup's existing front coil suspension. They provide support for better handling, braking, and ride quality when using snowplows or other front-end accessories.

Features:

  • Provides 1,000 lbs of load-leveling support to improve safety and ride quality
    • Supports your existing front coil spring suspension when you're using a winch, snowplow, grille guard, or other front-end accessory
  • Keeps your vehicle level when you are hauling a heavy load
    • Improves steering and braking performance and maintains headlight aim
    • Reduces tire wear and OEM suspension caused by extremely heavy front-end loads
  • Diminishes sway and absorbs road shock to improve stability and ride quality
  • Lets you manually adjust air pressure for even load distribution and support
    • Inflate each spring independently to level off-center loads (with installation of dual air lines)
  • Constructed of durable, molded polyurethane
  • Installs inside your vehicle's front coil spring suspension
  • Includes 2 air springs, hardware, tubing, Schrader valves, and hardware
  • Add a compressor system (sold separately) to monitor and adjust air pressure
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Load-leveling capacity: up to 1,000 lbs
    • Air Lift 1000 springs will not increase your vehicle's weight-carrying capacity. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight limit.
  • Motorhome adjustable air pressure: 40 psi - 90 psi
  • Truck/SUV adjustable air pressure: 10 psi - 50 psi
  • Lifetime warranty
  • 60-Day satisfaction guarantee

Levels Your Load

Using a snowplow or a winch or installing a heavy grille guard on the front of your vehicle can put unneeded stress on your suspension system. This stress not only affects your brakes in a bad way, but your tires, headlight aim and handling suffer as well. If you need more front-end support, Air Lift 1000 has you covered.

The Air Lift 1000 kit will help to keep your vehicle at normal ride height. You can find the normal ride height of your vehicle by unloading it and measuring the distance between the bottom edge of your wheel well and the center of the hub. After you find and record this distance, you can regulate the amount of air that you send to your air springs to maintain normal ride height - even when you are carrying a heavy front load. Simply adjust the air pressure in your air bags according to the size of your load.

Adjustable Air Springs

Air Lift 1000 adjustable air springs provide 1,000 pounds of load-leveling capacity and support. They are made specifically to fit inside your front coil spring suspension for additional load assistance. You can inflate and deflate these tough, molded polyurethane helper springs as needed, ensuring the perfect amount of support for every load, every time. Easily level your vehicle front to rear, and if you run dual air lines to the air springs at installation, then you can inflate the springs independently of one another for side-to-side leveling.

Easy Installation

Air Lift 1000 is a breeze to install with standard tools and has an easy-to-follow instruction manual. This Air Lift system comes with manual inflation valves (1 for each spring). These are typically mounted on the bumper but can be installed anywhere on your vehicle in an easily accessible area. For even more convenience and control, you can add a compressor and gauge system (sold separately), which will let you monitor and automatically inflate your air springs.

Satisfaction Guarantee

The Air Lift company is positive that you will benefit from their air spring suspension system - so much so that they offer a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Install and use Air Lift 1000 springs for 60 days, and if you are not satisfied at the end of this time, you can remove them from your vehicle and return them for a full product refund.

Great product just tricky to install in winnebago sightseer. I forced them in 2 inch pvc pipe cut about 12 inches long oiled up really good then used a screw jack out of my silverado to push them through the 2 inch hole into the coil spring.

I’m in my 70’s and installed them myself in my driveway. Class A Motorhome with Workhorse chassis Worked good on my low mile unit. Will not correct bad coil springs that are wore out

I’m very satisfied with the air bags. I used my air conditioner vacuum pump to collapse the bags for easy installation. Thank you,

5 stars.
Removing old bag: I found
that using a heat gun helps tremendously in removing the old bag. Heating it to almost the melting point then sticking a large knife to cut it in pieces and pulling out the bottom.

Installing the new one: I used gear hose clamps after rolling it up and using dish soap as a lubricant helped a lot.

Thanks for the follow up, I might suggest using something that is less likely to slice the air bag like some heavy duty twine, or maybe some zip ties.

First thing, Sorry if the photos are sideways! I took a couple of pics of the air bags because on the site it looks as if they are too skinny to work but NO they are the right size for your P30 Chevy Motorhome. The price was right for the complete kit as shown in the photo with the lines, bags, shields and other little bits for mounting the lines on the frame.

For install, there is a set of directions and an a informational packet for those other items you may want to monitor and maintain you air bags if you so desire. The instructions are pretty good but I'll tell you that hole on the control arm at the bottom ain't that big! I put the bags in hot water to soften them up before trying the rolling and tying part and it helped. Be prepared to spend about 2 hours total to get this done but as far as being complicated, it's not. I didn't have to jack up my RV to do this either. Front suspension will now have the added support it came with back in 1987. Glad to have found this kit vs. the Firestone one that is basically the same for more $$ and many times is not in stock. Can't wait for the first trip!

Brought back that in control feel driving a P32 chassis with having them for a while.

2004 Winnebago Sightseer Motorhome

I bought these to replace the blown bladders in my 2006 Winnebago Siteseer Worsehorse chassis. I'm a handy guy but was a little nervous about cutting out the old bladders and installing the Air Lift 1000 units. I found the customer comments very helpful especially the comment on using a heat gun to pull the old bladders out. The first one took me a couple of hours to figure out, the second one took me less than an hour to deinstall old and install new.

I REALLY appreciate the hose extensions for the valves. I installed them up in the engine compartment where I can easily access them for checking and topping off the air. For the units I replaced, I had to crawl up under the rig to check and fill--no more of that nasty, dirty crawl for this senior citizen.

Filled to 60 PSI, the first drive was noticeably different, the handling feels much stiffer than it had. We're launching out on a 3,600-mile road trip in the next couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle on the open road.

My advice to folks-- the installation seems daunting, but the results are well worth the challenge. I encourage you to try this product.

After a year still very satisfied with these air lifts. Ive recommended them time and again to my fellow RVers

I purchased AirLift helper springs for my Motorhome about a year ago. Installation was a bit tricky because they fit inside the coil springs but the difference they have made to my ride is impressive, no more jarring bumps from potholes and a much less stressful drive. I definitely recommend these air bag helper springs and thanks to eTrailer for their service.

I replaced the defective front air bags in a 2002 Workhorse P32 Allegro motorhome and they have performed well so far.
Be aware that installation is not for the novice mechanic as seems to be indicated in the installation instructions.
Also purchased the Air Lift Load Control II Compressor system for ease of use.

Winnebago

We bought our motor home used, a 2007 Winnebago 30B on the Workhorse platform. The original equipment front air bags were no longer viable. I ordered the Air Lift 1000 airbags from etrailer.com and installed them myself. It was a struggle but finally got them worked into place. The Air Lift bags made all the difference in the world as far as stabilization of the motor home driving down the highway. Excellent product! I run about 65 psi and that seems to be the right pressure for this motor home. Thanks to Air Lift for a great product and thanks to etrailer.com for great pricing and fast shipping!!

Great product, quick delivery!

by:

I am very satisfied with Air Lift , I installed the bag's in my Georgetown Motorhome and they work perfectly after trial and air getting the pressure to the ride I wanted , to make it easier to get the same pressure in both air bag's I connected the two line's into one air valve and mounted it in the front outside compartment getting the same pressure in both at the same time and not having to go under the coach to add the air .

Great product, Great service behind it, I had problem when I received the item when I first received it as one of the air bags was damaged, however all it took was a call to etrailer and problem was resolved right away. They shipped out next day a replacement and have had these on my 2000 Winnebago Adventurer for over a year now and all is great.

by:

I ordered my products in the middle of the Corvid 19 shutdown. I was wondering if I would be able to order and receive my new Airlift airbags during this time. It was very nice to not only order them but to receive them in just a few days. With these new parts I will be able to continue the repairs on my RV and get it ready for what I hope will be a fun and relaxing summer. I'm glad y'all are still there to support people like myself!

Used inside coil springs on front of a class A motorhome chassis. No leaks - pressure holding after a year of installation. I would recommend these airbags to anyone

by:

Haven't installed air bags yet. They appear to be a very high quality and what should last a long time. Etrailer was pleasant to deal with. If the need for more airbags comes up I will be happy to deal with etrailer again. Thank you for the fast shipping

by:

This arrived earlier than expected and was exactly the right part.

by:

A bit of a chore to install (was actually harder for me while removing the old ones!) - just get some video "how-to's" for great tips & tricks! Really stabilized our front end on our Class-A (Workhorse chassis) motorhome! :)

Arrived quickly and in good shape. Instructions were good, but don't even believe the part about easy 1hr. Installation if you're a shade tree mech.

The installation was more challenging than l expected but the function is ideal for the comfort that do provide!

by:

The sales person was very helpful and answered all my questions quickly and accurately. I placed my order in a matter of minutes.
Shipping was free and arrived much quicker than I expected. With all that is happening in our country right now, no one wants to work
and the ones that do are all but useless, it very nice to work with people that care. I will definitely buy again and highly recommend!

  • Could Air Lift 1000 Air Bags be Inflated Directly
The fittings on the bottom of the Air Lift bags like the part # AL81560 that you referenced do not have any type of valve in them so they can't be inflated directly. Basically it's a hollow fitting designed to have an air line slipped over.
