1999 Dodge Ram Pickup - Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater - Frost Plug Style - 120V - 600 Watts - 41 mm

  • Engine Block Heater
  • Frost Plug Style
  • Kats Heaters
  • CSA Approved

This frost-plug heater replaces the frost plug in your engine block and submerges in the coolant to keep engine fluids from thickening. Results in easier start-ups, faster heating of your cab, and less wear and tear on your Dodge Ram Pickup in cold weather.

Features:

  • Ensures smoother start-ups and faster heating and defrosting of your cab
    • Replaces frost plug (core plug) in engine block and submerges in coolant
  • Warms engine fluid to increase lubrication and performance
    • Keeps fluid from thickening and protects against damage in cold weather
  • Pre-heats engine to reduce condensation in the engine block
    • Emits less pollution and fewer gas emissions
  • Includes removable power cord
    • Route through your grille and plug into standard 120-volt AC outlet
  • Constructed of corrosion-resistant brass
  • Custom fit for your vehicle
  • CSA approved
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Diameter: 41 mm
  • Wattage: 600 watts
  • Amperage: 5 amps
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Notes:

  • Do not use this heater with a 100-percent antifreeze solution.
  • Do not start your engine with the heater plugged in.

Start your engine easier and warm your cab faster in cold weather with this frost-plug-style engine block heater. Heating your engine coolant keeps it from thickening and freezing, resulting in more reliable start-ups and smoother operation altogether. It also lessens the workload and extends the life of your vehicle's battery. And because starting your engine when it's warm creates less condensation in the engine block than starting it when it's cold, your engine will get better initial fuel vaporization, which causes fewer emissions and less pollution.

This frost-plug heater replaces the core plug in your engine block. The power cord on the heater is removable so that you won't need to buy a whole new heater if the cord gets damaged. The cord can be routed through your grille for easy access to a 120-volt outlet or extension cord. If needed, a longer or shorter cord (sold separately) can be purchased to better fit your application. Make sure the heating element is fully submerged in the coolant before plugging it in.

Video Transcript for Review of Kats Heaters Vehicle Heaters - Engine Block Heater - KH11607

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Kat's Heaters Custom Engine Block Heater. This is gonna replace the frost plug or core plug in your engine block, and it will submerge in the coolant. It's gonna help keep your engine fluid warm, especially in those cold temperatures. It's gonna keep the fluid from thickening and protect against damage. It will also help to ensure smoother startups, faster heating and defrosting of your cab.

And it's gonna reduce the condensation in your engine block, so it will emit less pollution and fewer gas emissions. Now, this is advertised as being a custom fit, but if you look at the list of vehicles that this fits, it is pretty extensive. So I'm just gonna generalize and say that it does fit a multitude of six and eight cylinder engines for many manufacturers, vehicle manufacturers. We do have a vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. So if you type in your year, make, and model, we'll let you know specifically which vehicles this will work with.

This does include this removable power cord and that you can route through your grill and then plug into your standard 120 volt AC outlet or extension cord. A couple of notes with this, you do not want to use this heater with 100% antifreeze solution. You do wanna make sure that the heating element is fully submerged in your coolant before you plug it in, and you do not want to start your engine with the heater plugged in. So few little notes there to make sure that you're using this appropriately. This is constructed of a corrosion resistant brass here in the USA.

It's got a diameter of 41 millimeters, it's gonna use 600 watts, about five amps and it is CSA approved, so you can trust it is going to be good quality for you, and do a good job of warming up those fluids. So that completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching..

I bought this because it is advertised as a fit for the 2015 Nissan Rogue. When I took it to my Nissan dealership service center, and they attempted to install it, they said it is not the correct size for all 2015 Nissan Rogues because at some point there had an engine block revision that changed the size of the engine block service ports. Thus, the product information on etrailer.com is incorrect, or at the least, misleading. Installation of this item is not an easy task, so to expect the average car owner to disassemble down to the engine block to measure the service port to ensure a correct fit prior to purchase seems extremely unreasonable. When I called to do a return, I was told that because it fits some 2015 Rogues, I could return it, but I would have to pay the return shipping. I got the impression from the person on the phone that she was implying that it is somehow Nissan’s fault, since they revised the engine block. This is also after I had to pay labor for Nissan to attempt to install it without success. When all said and done, I’ll have lost money on this transaction, even if I didn’t have to pay the return shipping. It would just be a slightly smaller hit to the wallet if I didn’t . Poor customer service, etrailer.com. First and last time customer. Buyer beware!

This review is for block heater KH11461 installed in a Mahindra 5010 with the 49 hp Daedong engine, after one year. This block heater came with the tapered bushing to fit in a 1 1/4" frost plug hole next to the starter. Tap out the frost plug (screwdriver, hammer) Tap in bushing (hammer piece of wood and sleeve retainer from NAPA). Screw in the block heater. Fill with antifreeze and run the engine to ensure there is no air in the cooling system to prevent burning out the heater. I also added a battery heater and trickle charger all on 1 cord permanently mounted under the hood. This now starts well below zero easily. etrailer has a video of this product.

I needed a frost plug core heater for my tractor. The one I bought did not have my tractor as an application. Just autos and trucks. The measurements were exactly what I needed as well as the wattage. I called a rep to confirm that the measurements were accurate and took a chance and bought it. Exact fit, easy install and happy customer! Thanks Phillip for your help. I highly recommend e-trailer for parts, supplies and great customer service.

by:

The part did not fit, even though listed as it did. The cost to return was the same price as the part. Total rip-off will not do business again.

by:

Great. Easy to install small heater for our boat!!

by:

This part came and I was not told it was repackaged and sold as new. When I went to install it the wrench marks and thread marks were off. I tested it and could not find continuity so it was broken inside. Alas, when I reached out I was told it was too far out of date to ask for a new one. Granted it was a month or two after.

excellent for farm tractors; use on perkins diesels ,and simpson diesels; just installed and is working fine! a good one should last 20 years; the one I replaced (for a tractor from a tractor supply house lasted less than 2 YEARS, the one before had gone the 20 years) your block heater has a heavy duty cord and the threaded cuff lock down nut on the sender was an all time first for me, thanks. To use this kit 11409 your must already have the block bushing or the bushing for a block heater for this kit will be # 11461b and about $7.00. Noticed your were in SPRINGFIELD TN; I farm in Tn and Ky. good for you. thanks again. TERRY FITZPATRICK, Austin, Ky

I am very satisfied. I had looked for awhile for this size and let me tell you, This company communicates and keeps you informed of your purchas and shipping. I installed this in a 1986 Massey Ferguson 3cyl diesel. No one else carries this size that I could find. I will buy from again.

I just received this block heater today and have not installed it yet but it looks real simple. etrailer.com was a great price and fast shipping

by:

I bought this as a supposed upgrade for the stock 750w heater in my 12v Cummins. This heater failed almost immediately, I think I used it twice before realizing it wasn't working anymore. etrailer was helpful and offered to exchange it under warranty, but I did some research and found a lot of negative reviews of this style of Kat's heaters.

I decided I would be better off washing my hands of this heater altogether, and ultimately ended up installing two 750w Cummins heaters in my engine to satisfy my desire to upgrade.

by:

Fast shipping, competitive pricing and a very feputable company. Part was exactly as ordered.

by:

Fits the application perfectly & priced right.

hi
put this block heater on a Kubota
D1105 (RTV1100) , 2012. In place of a heater that was already there . tighten up screw to specs, I could take one finger and wiggle it. was worried when it got to temp , it would leak or pop out and lose my engine. the old one was a friction fit, not a butterfly hold .
I have got other things from etrailer that were good, blocker heater did not work with this case. Not etrailer fault. KAT heater KH11487 not up to the job, have to go back to Kubota to get part.

by:

Heater is good but it didn't fit in the frost plug hole that had the existing heater in. This replacement had a longer element and it touched the inside of block no matter what angle i turned it and would not seal properly. I think if it was in one of the other frost plugs maybe it would work? I have ordered many other block heaters from here with no issues. Like I said prob fits in different frost plug location so beware have a plan b ready. Hard to give bad review at these prices

by:

Haven't installed this block heater yet, as it just came yesterday. It looks to be of great quality however, and I have a Kat's block heater in another vehicle that has worked great for years. I anticipate this one will as well.

by:

Excellent service and excellent condition and place to deal with very happy with product Thanks Bill I just want to know about the other charge on my account if I am receiving another block heater as it was withdrawn from my account if so when can I expect the other one to be sent out

by:

This product works perfectly! It was installed on a 2006 Ford Escape XLT. I had a dealership install the heater. Living in the Midwest, on mornings below 10 degrees, I can definitely tell a difference in the car starting. The heat was slightly warm immediately after starting the car. This heater was used everyday for four months in the middle of winter in ND. The car was parked outside all winter and was plugged in all night. No issues! I would highly recommend this product.

by:

I bought this for my John Deere 4320 tractor. I had to take this to my local machinist to move the O-ring to 1/8" away from the plate; the plug opening has only 1/4" of wall available. It now fits and works perfectly!! Much better than the exorbitant price that JD asks for their block heater. I'm perfectly satisfied.

by:

This worked perfectly. It wasn’t made for the tractor I put it on, so I had to fabricate an adapter and then all I had to do was plug it in. About 30 minutes after plugging it in and the engine will start in the coldest weather. Great product and great service from etrailer.

by:

Block Heater purchased for Tractor works great! No issues with ordering, shipping or product quality! Thank You!

by:

Works great, no issues with the product but the cord is short for my Ram since the original connection site is near the back of the engine block. I have to open my hood to plug it in which isn't a hude deal but an extra 8-12" of length would have been nice.

by:

Overall the product is very good. Its a 5 BUT........

Easy to install, but You have to be very careful not to over tighten or rake it will leak. (Like I said, my gulag for over tightening it. (but dang, it is a real fine line between loose and over tightened! Lol) Maybe torque specs needed!?!?

Used it to keep boat diesel motor warm all winter in the northeast.

In any case, keeps the Lehman 120 Diesel in my boat toasty warm. (I installed two on a thermostat and it works like a charm. Fire her up in the middle of February to go out for cod.

by:

Ordered 2 of these for the twin 5.9 Cummins engines in our boat. Installed them into a 3/4" NPT fitting in the head of each motor. Work great so far, keeps the motors just under 100 degrees. Makes starting much easier and almost no smoke out of either engine.

by:

Still working great after a year.

by:

This product appears well made and durable. Perfect fit with no leaks. Its 400W capacity is less than some freeze plug heaters, but it does warm the engine well. Good price and fast shipping. Overall rating excellent.
