With it being a time delay brake controller, the nice benefit of the time delay versions is that they can be mounted in any orientation. You can put this thing just about anywhere in your vehicle. I've got it in kind of a traditional location underneath the dash leveled like you would a proportional brake controller. But that's again really the big benefit with all your proportional brake controllers. They need to be level side to side and they have usually particular angles that they can be front to back, whether it be up or down here. more

As you can see here, we have a few Tekonsha products laid out. The nice thing about this adapter is it's going to plug straight into your factory towing wiring in the vehicle, and then straight into your Tekonsha brake controller that you have, whether you have the Tekonsha P3, same with the P2, the Primus IQ, and finally the Tekonsha Voyageur. You have the draw tight activator, the draw tight activator II, the draw tight activator III, and the Tekonsha power track. Now we'll show you how easily it's placed into the vehicle. Today on our 2016 Acura MDX, we are going to be taking a look at installing the Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller, part number 5504. In conjunction with that, we are going to be installing the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller 7-way RV and 4-way flat, part number ETBC7. In conjunction with that, we are going to be installing the pigtail for Tekonsha and Draw-Tite Brake Controllers, part number 7894, to attach all these together. Now, this braking system is a time delayed system. You can adjust the amount of energy that is going to apply to your trailer brakes and how fast it comes on, all adjustable by your switches on top. It's going to adjust your gain and that's going to adjust the intensity of how fast it will come on as far as how do you like your settings to be. As you apply your brakes, you'll see it climb up and that is going to let you know that it is applying your brakes on your trailer, and you can adjust it up or down to suit your needs. more
Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Express van, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Draw-Tite Activator IV trailer brake controller, part number 5504. Now we're also going to be using part number ETBC7 and part number 20127 to help us with our installation. Here's what our brake controller looks like fully installed. Now this is a time delayed brake controller, so we have the option of mounting this in any spot or in any direction that we want underneath our dash or above our dash if we'd like. Now it's going to feature an LED display, and it's going to have a red light with a black background. Now over here on the left where it says gain, this is going to be the control that established the maximum power available to our trailer brakes. Now it starts out as low as 0.0, and it's going to go up by 0.5 all the way up to 10. Now over here where it says sync, this is going to control how aggressive our brakes are powered. more

As we activate the switch we're going to see our gain lowering and rising indicating that we've got it hooked up properly. Speaker 1: Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we will be having a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Activator IV Trailer Brake Controller, part number 5504.To ease our installation, we will be using the ETBC7 Installation Kit as well, along with the Draw-Tite Replacement Brake Control Plug-in Harness. The Brake Controller's part number 20127.Now, my favorite thing about this, the sync feature is very nice. It will really let you dial in to almost make it like a proportional brake controller, but give you the benefits that a time-delay controller offers.Now, this brake controller is a nice, time delayed unit that has more features than some of the cheaper models, but yet this is still a very affordable unit to get for your vehicle. What a time delayed brake controller does over proportional brake controller is, any time your foot's on the brake pedal, the brakes are applied on your trailer even if you're not moving. This is great for if you're using your brake controller on an off-road style trailer.Now, this brake controller has three functions on it that you need to concern yourself with. Today in our 2006 Ford Expedition, we'll be installing the Contra 00:02:35 Prodigy P2 Break Controller, part number 90885 with a direct fit wiring harness or pigtail 00:00:11, part number 3035-P. First we'll go ahead and locate the manufacturer's break controller tow hood. Here, next to the diagnostic link for the vehicle's computer, we'll find the gray, five pin plug which will be the manufacturer's tow port. Next, we'll take the break controller bracket and find a suitable mounting location. Then using the hardware provided with the install kit we'll go ahead and secure the bracket in place. Next, we'll take the wiring harness, plug into the gray connector on one side and route the other up through our break control bracket or pocket. Once we have our harness in position, we can then go ahead and take the wiring harness and plug it into the back of the break controller. Once we have it plugged into the break controller, we can then go ahead and put our break controller into the pocket and lock it down. more

Were also going to use the adapter cord, part number 3635-P, also from Tekonsha. Well go ahead and start off by working with this part. Well plug into a towing port thats underneath the dash. In this case its behind the data port, alongside the wires that goes to it. more

Today on this 2004 Ford Explorer we're going to install part number ETBC7 We're going to use this to install Brake Controller part number 90885 from Tekonsha, the Prodigy P2 Brake Control. So we'll start off our install by installing a mounting bracket onto the hitch. Now this bracket does not come with the kit and we'll be using part number 18140. Now the bracket is a little on the short side, so we have to make it a little bit longer. What we're going to do is just add a couple more holes to the end of the bracket. more

Today on our 2005 Ford F150, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller. Part number 90195 with wiring harness, part number 3035-P. First we'll point out the connection to the factory wiring harness. Now that we've located our plug, there's normally a grey plastic cap that covers it - in this instance there's not. We'll take our new wiring harness from our new brake controller, plug it into the factory connector. With the wiring in place, we'll mount out bracket, in this case we're mounting it about halfway up the kick panel under the steering wheel. To mount it we use the two self-tapping screws that came included with out kit. Now that our bracket's in place we'll take the mounting clip for our brake controller and we'll screw that in using the included machine screws that came with the kit. Now that the brackets mounted, take our wiring harness, plug it the back of the brake controller and set our brake controller up in place. more

Today on this 2008 Chevrolet Silverado were going to install part number 39510. This is the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller. Couple of things to know about this brake controller; first off, were working with an older version of it. The old version doesnt have the port on the end of the wires. Not to start off well go ahead and look for the two package wires underneath the dash of our truck. Well look up underneath there and we should see a blue wire, a red wire, a white wire, a light blue wire with stripes and an orange wire. more

Here, up under the dash above the brake pedal, there is a gray plug that will match up perfectly with our wiring harness. Today in this 2000 Ford F150 were going to install part number 90885 the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller. To start work, well go ahead and locate the port for our wire harness to fit into. Its right next to the diagnostic port underneath the dash. Well take our wire harness, part number 3035-P, well go ahead and take it and plug into the port.Now take our cable, and well go ahead and run it to the edge of the dash on the other side of the diagnostic port. Well let it sit there for now. Then well find a location for our pocket to hold our brake controller. more

Today on our 2004 Ford F350, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller, part number TK90160. Now, during our installation, we'll also be using the Tekonsha plug-in wiring adapter for electric brake controllers for Fords, Lincolns, and Mercurys, part number 3035-P. We'll begin here by removing this cover right here. To do this, there's four little tabs that we'll twist and they'll pop out, and then we'll be able to remove the whole cover. Go ahead and set the cover aside for now. Now this right here is the factory plug that we'll be tying in the adapter plug to, the 3035-P plug. Now we'll go ahead and route our plug up from the underside here, and we'll go ahead and line it up with our gray factory plug. Once we're lined up, we'll go ahead and firmly push it in place, making sure that the little locking tab on the side here secures on the locking edge. more

First, we'll go ahead and install our brake controller in the location on the truck. We're going to use this location right here. Our truck already had our brake controller previously installed here, so we're just going to reuse the existing holes. This is our bracket that comes with the P3 brake controller. more
Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2003 Ford F250- Video
Just to give you a reference point, this is the top, right here of the gas pedal, so basically its across up on this pillar here. While were here well plug in our brake controller adapter and that will be part # 3035-P. Now we can plug the other end of this into our brake controller after we install the mounting bracket. Next well mark our bracket for positioning, well just hold it up here on this bottom edge where its nice and flat. In this corner right here, well just make a small dot for reference and then well put our first screw there. Afterwards well put our brake controller inside and eyeball it to make sure we get it straight. When we have positioned the way we want it, we ll make our secondary screw install here. Okay at this point we can simply install our adapter cable in then well just mount right here. We have the brake controller installed now, the last thing we do is take the wires and zip tie them into a safe position and all we have to do is test. more

Today, on our 2002 Ford F350, we're going to be installing Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, Part Number 90885. In conjunction with the brake controller, we'll also be using the Tekonsha Plug-in Wiring Adapter for electric brake controllers, Part Number 3035-P.To begin with, we will go ahead and lower dash panel below the steering wheel by twisting the four corners of the panel and pulling it off. With this removed, we'll go ahead and locate the plug that we will need to plug into underneath the dash.The connector is a gray connector and we will need to take the end of the plug-in wiring adapter and plug into this. You want to make sure it goes in all the way to where you hear it click and lock into place.Next, we'll go ahead and pick out a location to secure our mounting bracket. On this particular vehicle, there was already a brake controller installed before, but we'll go ahead and change out to the new bracket.We'll go ahead and make the connection to the back of the brake controller. Again, you'll notice that there is a clip on the one side and you need to make sure that it's locked into place firmly on the back of the brake controller.We'll go ahead and use the two screws and put the brake controller up into the bracket. more

In addition to the brake controller we're also going to be installing the Tekonsha plug-in wiring adapter for electric brake controllers for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury, part number 3035-P. Let's go over what the different buttons on our brake controller do. The underside here, this lever, the manual override button which you can see here currently we have no trailer connected so that's what it shows on the screen. These two buttons here are what control the amount of power, the maximum amount of power, that can go back to your trailer brakes. That's the up and down area which you adjust the power up or down. This button over here is the boost feature button or how aggressively the brakes will be applied to your trailer. more

Today on this 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty we are going to install part number 90885-3035P. The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller with the adapter cord that will plug into the factory Ford outlet. The first thing we need to do is get access to the port near the panel underneath the steering wheel that we have to temporarily remove. You can simply use a coin to undo the latches. Right here is the port that we need to plug into. That is kind of hard to get the wire harness in there and plug it in so you can use a screwdriver or a trim panel tool like we are using and just pop it up a little bit, get underneath of it and pop it loose so you can get a better angle at it. Take the cord and plug it in and take the cable and route it below and put the panel back into place. 00:55 more

Today in our 1999 Ford F350 Super Duty, well be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller with the direct fit wiring harness part number 90195 in conjunction with 3035-P. To begin our install, well first need to locate the manufacturers tow port. This will be underneath the kick panel below the steering wheel. Well go ahead and remove the four fasteners that secure the kick panel and then pull it down and out of the way. To remove the kick panel or knee bolster here, well just rotate the screw heads so that they pop out. . more
Today on this 2004 Ford Van, we're going to install part number 90885 from Tekonsha. This is a Prodigy P2 Brake Controller. Now alos, we're going to use part number ETBC7 to install this. We're going to start off with that part number first. We'll take the 4 pole to 7 pole adapter, and we're going to attach it to the gray cable that comes with the kit. We're going to connect the black and white wires to our blue and black wires on the adapter. more
Alright today on this 2004 Ford E450 thats an RV, were going to install a brake controller part number 90915. We will be using an adapter cord 3035-P, and on the back of the vehicle well be using 4 pole to 7 pole adapter part number 37185, and also a bracket to hold everything together 118140, and with these parts well fill in the gaps that are missing on part of this tow package. Okay we are going to start off by working on the rear of the RV and working our way forward. What we are going to do is actually remove the 5 pole connector that is located on the hitch right now. Were going to disconnect that and add a new connector to the back of the vehicle, and that part number will be adapter part number 37185, and we will also be using an adapter bracket part number 118140, and we will start with that part. This is the adapter bracket; we are going to mount to the bottom by clamp to hold it in place. more
Today on this 1997 Ford Van Club Wagon were going to install part #: 90885 from Tekonsha. Well also use part #: 3035P also from Tekonsha for our adaptor that goes to the factory port thats located in the van. First thing well do is well go ahead and locate the port thats underneath the dash of the van. Itll be located off to the left hand side behind the parking brake. Well plug in our adaptor cord and then well find a location to mount our bracket for our brake controller. Now to locate our brake controller bracket on the left hand side of the dash just blow the headlight switch. more

Today on our 2016 GMC Sierra 1500, we'll be installing Draw-Tite's Activator Forward Trailer Brake Controller. With this, we'll be using the plug-in wiring adapter.This trailer brake controller is a time-delay brake controller, it's gonna provide braking at your trailer based on the settings that you preset here on our controller. You've got two different settings that you can adjust: you have your gain and your sync.Your gain is your maximum output to your brakes, and we can see that here changing on our display if we have our brakes applied. And the sync adjusts that time-delay. If it feels like they're applying a little bit too late or a little too soon, you can adjust that with the sync here.The manual slider can also be used to hold your trailer brakes if you're sitting on a steep hill for a while. You could use it for testing purposes, as well as help bring your trailer back straight if it starts to sway when going down the road.We'll begin our installation by plugging in our wire adapter. more

Today, in our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the draw tite actuator 4 brake controller for one to four axles, part number 5504. We'll be doing this in conjunction with the Tekonsha plug-n-play wiring harness, part number 3045-P. Here's our direct fit wiring harness. The grey end will match up with the manufacturer's grey plug when plugged directly into it. Then once plugged in, we'll go ahead and route the remaining portion of our harness over to where we'll be mounting the brake controller. Keep in mind to stay away from any moving parts, such as the gas, brake, or parking brake pedal, or even possibly the steering column when routing your wire. more
