Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2004 Pontiac Montana
Question:
My 2004 Pontiac Montana came with a compressor unit where trailer wiring has been installed leaving with 6 bare wires coming out only and in the following color coding / function: 1- White Ground 2- Orange Power - Hot at all time 3- Yellow Left Turn 4- Green Right Turn 5- Brown Park/Tail 6- Red Brake How can I make this connection to work for this part #47305B since wire plug from trailer is a 4 flat wire? Or should I be using a different part? Thank you for your expert advice in advance.

Actually, all you will need to do is install a wiring harness, # C55355, on your 2004 Pontiac Montana. But if you wanted to use those factory wires, because you have separate wires for turn signals and brake lights, you would first need to install a converter.
The converter, # RM-732, takes the separate signals and combines them which is what a trailer uses. To wire it up your yellow wire will go to the yellow wire on the converter, green will go to green, white will go to white, and red will go to red. On the output side you would get a 4-Way flat vehicle side, # 18172.
Then you would attach the yellow to yellow, green to green. Then you would take the brown wire on the vehicle and connect to the brown on the 4-Way. The white wire on the 4-Way will be grounded to the vehicle frame. In my opinion, it would be much easier to use # C55355. I have linked a link to the instructions for you.
