Is It OK For Super Springs SumoSprings to Touch Frame of 2005 Toyota Tacoma when Truck is Unloaded
Question:
Is it ok if the spring touches the frame when the truck has no weight on it?

Expert Reply:
Typically, you do want a bit of space between the spring and the truck frame when the truck is unloaded. However, if your Super Springs SumoSpings # SSR-610-40 touch the frame of your 2005 Toyota Tacoma when it is unloaded it will be okay. The only thing you may notice is a bit stiffer of a ride since the springs will engage more quickly once the truck is loaded.
From the install photos taken when we installed these springs on a 2007 Tacoma, it appears that truck had very little to no space between the spring and the frame. The photo in the installation instructions for these springs on the Tundra/Tacoma show a very small amount of space. The lack of space on your truck may indicate that your suspension is slightly worn and your truck sits just a bit shorter than it did originally.
