Measuring a 2011 Chevy Tahoe to Get a Ball Mount with the Right Drop to Two Trailer Level
Question:
Hey I have a 2011 Chevy Tahoe to be used to tow a tandem axle 21 foot bass boat. Can you please recommend the drop I need for the trailer hitch coupler?

To determine the amount of rise or drop needed in a ball mount to tow the trailer level there are 2 measurements needed. First make sure the 2011 Chevy Tahoe and the trailer are on level ground. Then measure from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the vehicle. Next measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler with the trailer level.
If the vehicle is higher the difference is the amount of drop needed. If the trailer is higher the difference is the amount of rise needed. I have included a link to our help article that covers the measuring process as well as a link to our ball mount main page.
You also might consider an adjustable ball mount such as # C45900 which offers up to 6 inches of drop of 5 inches of rise and has both a 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch ball.
