I checked with Blue Ox and Roadmaster and neither offer custom fit base plates for your Volvo S40 T5. But what you can do is have some universal base plates, # BX88266, professionally installed. Please consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle.

If you can flat tow it according to the manual and use the universal base plates then for a tow bar I recommend the Alpha, # BX7380. It is rated for 6,500 pounds and includes safety cables. For lighting I recommend a simple magnetic light kit, # RM-2120. It is easy to set up and use and you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Patriot proportional system # BLU37TR. It will apply the Volvo brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
