Question:
I need a 7 pin wiring harness kit for a 2012 Volkswagen Routan. I found the 4 pin, but I need the 7 pin so I can use the popups trailer brakes and charge the battery. Do you have a solution?

If you already have a 4-pole flat trailer connector on your 2012 Volkswagen Routan, such as the plug-and-play Tow Ready # 118490, then to install a trailer brake controller you'll just need to add
our trailer brake controller installation kit # ETBC7.
The ETBC7 includes all the related parts you'll need to install a trailer brake controller such as the reliable and popular Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885. I have linked both a video and article that cover the process of installing the ETBC7.
Do note that a 12V feed in a 7-way carries enough current to maintain a trailer battery, but not enough to charge a depleted one. Depleted batteries will require shore power and a charger like the CTEK # CTEK56353.
I included an article on brake controllers that explains the types available and their advantages.
Before towing with your Routan I suggest a check of your owner's manual to verify it has the required capacity to tow your pop-up.
