Where is Flat Towing Procedures Listed for a 2014 Nissan Frontier Manual Transmission
Updated 10/20/2014 | Published 10/19/2014 >
Question:
We use the Blue Ox system and have been towing a 2014 Nissan frontier manual trans. On our last trip we had to replace the entire brake system $2200. The dealer said it was towing the vehicle with the key in ACC position. There is no info on this in the owners manual and the dealer where we purchased the truck said nothing. How do we get some consideration from Nissan? And, why should this cause the damage?

As long as you followed the flat towing procedure that was outlined in the owners manual of your 2014 Nissan Frontier the dealer cannot blame the braking problem you have on how you flat towed your vehicle.
I could see steering components or tires getting damaged from having the key of the vehicle in the wrong position (if that were the case), but not braking parts. But once again, if you followed the instructions for flat towing that were in the owners manual of your vehicle Nissan can't claim you did anything wrong.
Your best option would be to present your case to the manager of the service department that you took your vehicle to, and if that doesn't work go to his boss, and then his boss if necessary until you go high enough that you find someone reasonable who will fix the problem for you.
