Thanks for reaching out Steve. We do carry replacement weld on spindles with brake mounting flanges, such as the # 84 E-Z Lube Spindle with Brake Flange for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # TRU74FR. Unfortunately, there isn't a reliable way to identify the correct replacement spindle based solely on the year and make of your Ranger boat trailer. Ranger has used several different axle and spindle configurations over the years, so we'll need to narrow down exactly what you have.

The main things I'd want to confirm are the axle weight capacity, whether your existing spindle is straight or tapered, and the inner and outer bearing numbers, if you can locate them. You can usually find the axle capacity on a tag or sticker attached to the axle. The bearing numbers will be stamped into the bearings themselves, although you'll need to remove the hub to access them. If you see a part number stamped into the outside of the hub, that can also be helpful as sometimes we are able to cross reference this to determine the bearing numbers. With that information, I can determine which spindle you need and whether we carry a compatible replacement with the brake mounting flange already attached.

Do you happen to see an identification tag or part number on your existing axle? If you can send me a photo of that, it would be a great place to start.

Check the capacity plate on the tongue of the trailer. I replaced spindles on my 1989 RangerTrail for my 365V. Back then Ranger used a odd duck arrangement of grease seals and bearing sizes. They work fine, but in an emergency, replacements may be hard to come by. Ranger referred me to a guy in Texas that said he had the correct inner seal. It was wrong. Consider replacing the hubs, seals and bearings all at the same time. I did that and have since made several trips from Wisconsin to Canada with no issues. Any repair shop along the way will have the standard bearings and seals the e-trailer now uses. Good luck, Jon B.

@JonB Appreciate the insight here. Going with a common sized replacement spindle will definitely make finding components for repairs and maintenance much easier. Did you swap out the original spindles on your Ranger Trailer for the # TRU74FR?

@ChristopherH Yes, Qty 2. Also AK1HUB-545-35-EZ-K Easy Grease Idler Hub Assembly for 3.5K Axles. My trailer does not have brakes, his might. His boat is just a little bit longer and wider than mine, making it also a little heavier. Jon B.
