Is There a Universal Salt and Fertilizer Spreader for ATVs and Side-by-Sides? (Hitch Mount)

Published 10/21/2026

Question:

I'm looking for a spreader I can move between my Polaris Ranger and a couple of ATVs we use around our property. Mainly need it for salting driveways in the winter and spreading fertilizer and grass seed in the spring. Is there a universal setup that would work with different machines?

Hey Scott!

The SaltDogg ATV/UTV Spreader # BP49GR is a great option for that! It mounts in a standard 2-inch hitch receiver, so you can move it between different ATVs and side-by-sides as long as they have the proper receiver and enough hitch capacity.

It has a 15-gallon hopper, adjustable feed gate, and spreads dry salt, fertilizer, or grass seed up to 30 foot wide.

For ATVs with a flat hitch plate, the Curt Bolt-On Hitch Adapter # C45006 can provide the needed 2-inch receiver. You'll also need a standard 12V accessory outlet to power the spreader. If a machine doesn't have one, the OptiMate Power Socket # MA84BV is an option.

What models of ATVs are you using alongside your Ranger? I can help confirm the mounting setup for each one. The Ranger should already have a 2" receiver on it if I'm not mistaken.

thanks this all looks good! I have a couple quads. Yamaha Kodiak and Honda Rancher. One has receiver, other has a smaller tube that I can get an adapter for or use your adapter to give it a 2" receiver. Also might just end up putting it on the Polaris utv and moving it to the Kodiak when need be and call it a day lol.
