Looking For Best Tie Down Anchors Or Track System For UTV In 6x12 Cargo Trailer

Updated 10/11/2026 | Published 10/09/2026

Question:

Hi! I am looking for some guidance on adding anchor points to my new trailer. It is a standard single axle, 6x12 with 2x6 wood flooring. Primary cargo will be a 4-seat UTV with a curb weight of 1640 lbs. I may consider dedicated wheel tie downs in the future but right now I would like a more generic setup. I was thinking about adding 3 or 4 anchors on each side. I was also curious if the track system would be usable for this application. Any guidance you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Joel

Hey Joel,

There are a few different ways you could go about this. The Brophy Swiveling D-Ring Anchors w Backing Plates and Hardware - Bolt-On - 2,000 lbs - Qty 4 # RR6K-4 you were looking at would work well and you could grab a qty of 2 packs for 8 total anchors. The kit comes with everything you would need to get them installed on your trailer's wood floor.

You mentioned a track system which could be a nice upgrade for a bit more money, and it would give you the flexibility of moving anchors forward or backward etc. Some people even mount the channels at an angle instead of parallel to each other so they can adjust the anchors differently. You could go with the CargoSmart X Track Cargo Organizer Pro Bundle - Matte Black - Steel - 667 lbs - 5' Long # 3481788-P. This includes 4 of the 5 foot long rails, 4 heavy duty ratchet straps, 4 x track mounts for tiedown spot, and 4 anchors that fit the x track and x track mounts. Everything for installation is included aside from hardware as they varies based on the trailer material and size, so you can get hardware at local store. Also, it's not just x track parts that fit this system; the industry standard E-Track accessories also fit the tracks.

Let me know what you think! I've attached a demo video for you on the track kit.
