Roof Platform for 2022 Toyota Prius AWD-e

Updated 10/12/2026 | Published 10/09/2026

Question:

I just purchased a 2022 toyota prius awde. It has factory Toyota roof rack cross bars. I want to mount a flat platform as large as possible onto the cross bars. Are you able to send me a list of compatible slimline flat platforms similar to a yakima lock and load type system would that system work with the toyota factory bars? Thank you so much for your time!

Hey Kyle!

Yes! The Yakima LockNLoad platform is a great option to consider for your 2022 Toyota Prius AWD-e, and the good news is that Yakima makes mounting clamps designed to work with many factory Toyota crossbars. However, we'll need to check a couple of measurements before I can confirm which platforms will fit yours.

The first option I'd look at is the Yakima LockNLoad Platform Rack # Y05044-39, which measures 55" long x 49" wide. It comes with clamps that wrap around your existing crossbars, so you wouldn't need to replace your Toyota roof rack. The clamps are designed to accommodate factory crossbars, but the mounting locations and crossbar spacing still need to be checked.

Another option is the Inno Roof Deck Platform # RR42114BF, measuring 55" long x 55" wide. This platform uses mounting hardware that attaches to existing crossbars, but we'll need to check whether your Toyota bars provide enough mounting space. The required mounting space for this platform is 20"-36" between the crossbars.

Since you're looking for the largest platform possible, I'd like to narrow this down rather than recommend something that ends up being too large for your Prius. We'll also want to account for Toyota's roof weight capacity, since the weight of the platform itself counts toward that limit.

Could you measure the distance between your factory crossbars, from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar? I'd also like to know the usable length of each crossbar and, if possible, its width and height.

With those measurements, I can help determine which of these platforms will work and how large we can safely go without replacing your factory roof rack!
