Question:

We have a short wheel base 2017 Ford Transit Connect and will be shortly converted to rear wheelchair accessible vehicle. Do you recommend improved shocks and springs ?? To our knowledge everything currently stock.

Thanks for reaching out Mark. I would not automatically replace the factory shocks or coil springs just because you're converting the 2017 Ford Transit Connect to rear wheelchair access. If, once converted and loaded normally, you find that the rear suspension sags, bottoms out, or has excessive body roll, then I would consider supplemental rear suspension support rather than immediately installing heavier coil springs or shocks. For a stock 2017 Transit Connect, the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFRTCA is a custom fit option with up to 1,200 lbs of load leveling support. It supplements the existing suspension and can reduce sag and improve stability but it does not increase the Transit's payload capacity.

Full transparency, I'm not exactly sure how a conversion like this would affect the ability to upgrade or replace certain suspension components or if there would be any interference with aftermarket parts. A manufacturer or installer of this type of conversion would be much better suited to provide information on that front.

Do you know approximately how much weight the wheelchair conversion will add to the rear of the Transit Connect?
