Can You Lock the B&W Gooseneck Pin Box to Prevent Trailer Theft?

Updated 10/06/2026 | Published 09/30/2026

Question:

Is anyone making a lock yet that will secure this pin box to keep someone from hooking up and driving away with the camper?

Hello Michael,

Thanks for writing in!

Nice choice considering the B&W 5th Wheel Setup w/ Replacement Gooseneck Pin Box # BW92RV. It does have a spot for a padlock to help keep the coupler secure, and I attached an image showing where the lock will install. I know it is not quite as heavy-duty as some of the dedicated trailer locks out there, but it is definitely better than leaving it unlocked while we wait for the aftermarket lock manufacturers to catch up with this newer setup.

Something like the Master Lock Stainless Steel Padlock with Shielded Shackle # ML40D would be a great option. I really like the shielded shackle design because there is much less exposed shackle to get to compared to a standard padlock.

I was really impressed when B&W released this gooseneck setup. I also love that they teamed up with SuperSprings International for the suspension side of the package. When it comes to suspension, that is where SuperSprings shines, so I am glad they teamed up instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

What kind of camper are you putting this on? And are you positive you have the Lippert 1621/1621HD pin box number?
