Question:
I have a 2017 Chevy Tahoe that was a cop car. It has no roof rack nor the structural openings that a stock rack would fit into I bought a roof rack from a junk yard and discovered this the hard way. Im wondering if you can suggest some alternative or solution. Thanks for any insights you can offer!

Hi Wayne, all of the racks for the Tahoe are designed for those factory flush rails. Outside of drilling and adding tracks for a roof rack, the only option is the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6000B (48" bars) or # SEA99FR (60" bars). This is a universal roof rack that attaches using their vacuum cups. They may look a little silly, but these have a total pull strength of 1,260 lbs so it is definitely secure.
What will you be using the roof rack for?

Thanks. These need no supplemental straps? My intent is to put a Thule Motion 3 Rooftop Cargo Box on the Tahoe, but these two don't seem intuitively to be a good combination. Honeypie thinks a trailer hitch box would be fine, and no doubt would carry the extra stuff we might carry, but, to me, the rooftop box would be better as the vehicle's back end would remain clear for access through the hatch.
