Can A DVD Player Be Plugged Into The Jensen Mechless RV Stereo JEN25RR?

Published 09/24/2026

Question:

We need to replace a nonfunctioning Jensen AWM968. Will this act as audio-out for our TV and can we connect a DVD player as an input?

Hi Bill!

You can indeed connect a DVD player to the Jensen Mechless RV Stereo - Double DIN - Bluetooth, USB - 36W - 3 Zones - 12V # JEN25RR via the front HDMI port. The audio from the DVD player will then pass through the stereo to play over your RV's built-in cabin speakers. It will do the same for your TV via the rear HDMI port, so this sounds like it will be a perfect match for what you are looking for! ^___^

What kind of camper are you needing this for?

This is in a Forrest River RP179, which came with the Jensen AWM968. As it happens, we still play a number of DVD videos and CDs, but it seems none of the newer stereo units have a DVD any longer. Since the JEN25RR is a bit smaller, we thought that a small DVD player might fit in the larger space left by the AWM968. We just need to fashion a cover plate to hold the JEN25RR and a suitable DVD player.

@BillP Well that's an interesting idea! Streaming has definitely taken over (not for the better in my opinion) and there really aren't any stereos like this with CD or DVD players anymore. Having a little shelf for an auxiliary DVD player should be totally possible with the smaller stereo. Have fun out there and let me know how the install goes! ^___^
