Is Gap Between Hitch and Bumper Normal On Curt 13322 Hitch Installation
Updated 09/02/2026 | Published 08/29/2026 >
Question:
I was just curious if this is normal, the gap between the hitch and the bumper. Everything is snug up on the frame. The Truck is an 04 I just bought and I’m not sure if this is an aftermarket bumper that is just is skinny or maybe there is supposed to be something that fills that gap? Just curious at what you guys think. And it’s not letting me upload all the images, I will send more photos when you guys reach out! Thank you!

Hey Kyle! What you're seeing is normal. If you compare your pictures to our installation photos of the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13322 the gap between the hitch and bumper looks the same, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. As long as the hitch is sitting snug against the frame at the mounting points and all of the hardware is properly torqued, you're good to go. There isn't anything that is supposed to fill the space between the hitch and bumper.
What will you be using the hitch for? Feel free to send the other pictures over and I'll take a look at those as well if something else looks off.
