12 Volt Refrigerator Replacement for Dometic RM2852

I am needing to repair or replace my Dometic RM2852. What 12dc options do you carry to replace the RM2852. Thanks.

Hi David!

I have the perfect replacement for your Dometic RM2852. I would go with the Furrion Arctic RV Refrigerator with Freezer, part # FR39GD. It is one inch wider than your old Dometic, so I would just double check that you have a little extra space in the cutout. Besides that, it is a perfect fit and is a great replacement.

The nice thing about the Furrion is that it runs directly from your RV's 12 volt electrical system and does not require propane operation. It also has a 10 cubic foot capacity and an off grid setting to help conserve energy, which is a feature I really like for RV use. It has gotten a lot of positive feedback from other RV owners too. People have mentioned how quickly it cools down, and the 43 dB noise level makes it a nice quiet option for the RV.

One other thing I wanted to mention is that your Dometic RM2852 model was included in a recall. I can send you the recall information by email so you have all of the details. You may not need to repair it yourself! Can I ask what is going on with your Dometic?

Hi Heather, thanks for the replay. I might have got lucky that my trailer didn't burn down. My fridge died at the start of my last trip. The coolant leaked. There was a yellow residue near the burner and my eyes and nose were burning from ammonia when I went to look at it. I do not think the recall will help he. It seems like it was not a fix to the potential leak, but a fix to keep the trailer from burning down when it does leak; unless I an not understanding it.

@DavidP Geez David, I'm really sorry that happened to you. That sounds really scary. I am not sure how the recall works for those without filling out the whole form on their website but honestly I would probably throw that thing away. It sounds like a hazard!

@HeatherA I am looking for some more info on the FR39GD. I am assuming this is not Furrion model number, as I was not able to find it, out side of your site. I want to find the install instructions to verify the rough cut dimensions, verify the door is reversible and to see what the back for the ridge looks like. I have a vent line that might be a problem. Thank you. David P

@DavidP Thank you for asking, David! We do carry that Furrion refrigerator under our part # FR39GD. The refrigerator itself measures 25-3/4" wide x 60-1/4" tall x 24-1/4" deep, and the required cutout dimensions are 23-1/2" wide x 59-7/8" tall x 24" deep. The built-in refrigerator is designed for 0" clearance on the sides and top. There is an intentional 1/4" clearance between the back of the unit and the cabinet to allow the service wire to enter the cabinet space. So, with your vent line behind the refrigerator, that 1/4" rear clearance is definitely something you will want to account for when checking your installation. The doors are also reversible, so they can be configured to open from either side. The refrigerator arrives with a left-hand opening, but the door can be switched to the opposite side if needed.
