Wiring Harness For 2015 Porche Cayenne

Updated 09/02/2026 | Published 08/25/2026

Question:

I need to wire my 2015 Porsche Cayenne for a trailer. When I bought my hitch last year you supplied a Tekonsha contactless adapter that is now malfunctioning. That device is now discontinued and I cant find an alternative other than buying the very expensive Porsche components. Do you have another option?

Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out. Yes, we do have another option for adding trailer wiring to your 2015 Porsche Cayenne. For that I recommend the following:

- Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236

This is a universal hardwire kit. It'll install similarly to the Tekonsha contactless harness you mentioned in that it attaches to the same wires, only this kit does require slicing into the factory wires. It comes with quick-splice connectors you can use to tie in to the vehicles taillight and brake light circuits. There aren't any custom plug-in wiring options for a Porsche Cayenne, so this universal kit is definitely the best bet.

What do you plan to tow with your Porsche?

I was hesitant to use a kit that splices into the harness because the Porsche is so sensitive to current and voltage changes. The Tekonsha was supposed to work, and did until I turned on the headlights, and then everything stopped working. I thought it was bad so I bought another but it does exactly the same thing. Something to do with the way Porsche sends the signals to the taillights I suspect. It would be nice to hear from someone that has this actually working on this model. I have a glider trailer I need to tow.

@RickM Yes I understand that concern but with that Tekonsha zero contact harness being discontinued, the Curt splice-in harness is quite literally the only option for adding trailer wiring aside from paying an arm and a leg for that Porsche OEM kit.

When I click on this adapter, I get a message that it does not fit a 2015 Porsche Cayenne

@RickM Yea we don't list it for a Porsche because it isn't a very common tow vehicle. It's a universal harness though so it can be used on virtually any vehicle. It's very commonly used on vehicles that don't have any custom wiring options. We've had a few customers use it for other Porsche models and report back that it works fine and it safe for the electrical system. As long as you find the right wires to tie into, it'll work just fine.
