Updated 08/30/2026 | Published 08/24/2026

Question:

Hi, My wiring harness snapped and now there are 3 pieces that are exposed where the trailer meets the neck for lack of better terms. Not sure if I need an entire harness or not. I can send a pic but not sure how to do that. Also, if you can direct me to the correct wiring hanress set, the kind that came with my trailer CE48870, CE Smith multi 12 wheels, 14 boat I would appreciate it.

Welcome back David! Since you're dealing with multiple broken wires on the CE Smith Boat and Kayak Trailer item # CE48870, I strongly recommend replacing the entire wiring harness from the 4-Way connector back to the tail lights. This will prevent any future issues that may be caused by just repairing those faults.

I check with CE Smith and they don't off their wiring harnesses as replacement parts. I recommend using the 25 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness item # A25W2GWB to replace your CE Smith Boat and Kayak Trailer item # CE48870 wiring. This is a 25' long wishbone style harness with a 4-way flat connector. You can use the existing wiring and some electrical tape to pull the new wires through the frame.

The 25 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness item # A25W2GWB uses 18 gauge wire for the ground wires and 20 gauge wires for the light functions. You'll want to use Heat Shrink Butt Connectors like item # DW05743-10 to ensure a waterproof connection to the tail lights.

What kind of boat or kayak do you have and what kind of water do you typically launch in? Feel free to answer this and throw in any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have a Twintroller boat. I use on smaller lakes in up.north MI. Mainly 200 acre or less type lakes.
