Which Gen-Y Cushioned Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Fits Grand Design 324MBS

Question:
Hi, I have the Curt C60642 OEM Gooseneck Hitchinch on my 2023 2500HD. I also have a Curt Crosswing 5th wheel to gooseneck hitch adaptor and use this to tow a Grand Design 324MBS 37foot long and approx 12K total. I have used this setup for 3 years. It tows fine, but we do get some chucking on bumpy Michigan roads.....and there are many times I wish I had the entire truck bed available...which requires me to remove and reinstall the crosswing I am pretty good at it....lots of practice. Can I replace my pinbox with a GenY or other shock-absorbing gooseneck pinbox? I have a concern about clearance - the C60642 positions the ball 3-4 inches ahead of the rear axle centerline. The crosswing has an 8inch rear offset, so my actual 5th wheel pin is ~4inch behind the axle centerline. This gives me good clearance between the truck and trailer for tailgate/front basement door etc. If I move to a gooseneck style pinbox I will lose the 8inch rear offset.....and will likely have clearance issues between the front basement door and the back of the truck.....possibly also clearance issues when turning. Pretty sure none of the gooseneck style pinboxes are extended, and I dont have the puck system in my truck to use an offset adaptor. I would appreciate any recommendations you can make to replace my pinbox with a gooseneck style adaptor, if this is even possible, or if clearance issues would not allow it. Another option might be a shock-absorbing 5th wheel pinbox that would still be compatible with the crosswing....this would make for a better ride, but not solve my bed usage issue. Thank you.

Hey Fred, how close is the clearance now with the offset you are using from your Crosswing? Like do you make a lot of super sharp turns and the clearance gets tight or do you find that you have more than enough turning clearance currently? A Gen-Y gooseneck adapter like the part # GY38FR will fit as this is designed to replace a 1621 pin box which is what your Grand Design 324MBS has.
