Will MORryde GooseTech 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Prevent Chucking Over Curt Helux

Updated 08/20/2026 | Published 08/13/2026

Question:

I just bought a 2026 Montana HC 300RK I opted to have the Curt Helux gooseneck installed when i purchased the trailer. Granted this is the first 5th wheel I have ever towed we are experiencing a lot of chucking, and I feel it’s pretty extreme at times. Tow vehicle is 26’ F350 and it does have airbags. I’ve seen that the airbags can fit with the Helux system. I’m curious if the morryde goosetech might eliminate the chucking I’m experiencing.

Hey Jake, the MORryde GooseTech part # MR97MV does have a really great reputation at smoothing out the ride quality of the RVs its installed on and gets rid of chucking but the Helux you have now is generally a really solid option too. So what I would do is have a passenger vehicle watch the Helux as you're towing when it's chucking to see if you can see where the movement is happening when the chucking occurs. I'd be super curious if the pin box is compressing all the way and making noise as it's bottoming out due to it being rated too low or what else might be going on.

I tow my 337 with a f350 dually and I added the goosetech. It is great. Prevents the chucking and smooths out my tow. We have gone from ms to wa and ms to tx with zero issues. Will never go back to normal 5th wheel hitch. Also I do not have airbags but I do have progressive helper springs.

@PaulT That checks out! The feedback we've gotten on the Goosetech has been that it's really awesome!
