Best Way To Attach Bunk Carpet To Bunk Boards

Question:
Howdy. Soon, I will purchase some of your bunk carpet. I have a saltwater trailer with 4”x10”x8’ wood bunks. What is your recommendation for attaching carpet to the bunks? Adhesive, stainless steel, staples, and or both? I hope you are a real person because I do not want AI. Thank you, Mike.

Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out. The best way to attach the carpet to your bunk boards is to use heavy-duty staples on the underside of the boards, then use an outdoor carpet adhesive on the top of the boards. That'll keep the boards protected and keep the carpet firmly in place. The adhesive helps keep the carpet from shifting or bunching, while the stainless staples do the actual heavy lifting.

We replaced the carpet on the bunk boards several years ago using stainless staples. We are in freshwater lakes and so far, no problems. Wise to re-cover bunk boards where when the boat is on the trailer the stapled side is exposed for inspection so that you can spray rinse off and let dry before parking or storing. This replacement also helps you see if you need to re-staple and won't scratch your beautiful boat. The carpet was purchased from e-trailer and is very good quality. I believe friends have also made that purchase for their trailers. "Happy Boating!!!"

I recently bought the gray trailer carpet for my bunk boards on my 21’ Ranger trailer, after installing the carpet on my bunks it is sooo much easier to load my boat on the trailer Big Time. Thanks a bunch Etrailer 10 ??????
