What is Height of Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit # C78ZV Above Truck Bed

Question:

Nice comparison. Can you please show same pics side by side with the Curt RockerBall Shock Absorbing Gooseneck Hitch Ball. Why does everyone show measurement to bottom of ball. The pin hole works for comparisons but best would be where it sits in the hitch to top of the ball. Isn’t that where pin box is going to sit? On another page for the rocker ball, says it is 7 3/4" from pin hole to the bottom of the ball. But the product page says total height is 1 1/2" higher than a standard ball. Curt marketing page say it is 12 1/4" from bottom of the shank to top of the ball. How am I supposed to compare the product. I currently have the Weigh Safe ISR Ball. It sits right a 7" and a 3" off-set. but I could use about 1" higher ball. Someone told me I can get a 1" extension feet for my IRS rail kit. But I had trouble finding that. Personally I would like to get rid of the IRS rails. I like the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset. But It only OEM gooseneck hitch, It uses a round shank. I have the pucks but not the OEM gooseneck hitch. I don't know if it is worth replacing the B&W gooseneck hitch. Your advise is welcome, as well as some ball pics with measurement numbers. Hey Albert, welcome back! So this is a great question but the simple answer is that from the top of your truck bed to the top of the hitch ball of the Curt RockerBall Multi-Fit Ball Kit w/ 4" Offset # C78ZV is 8 inches. Since what you have now is 7 inches tall and you want one inch taller this would be exactly what you are looking for. What are you towing currently?

Thank you Jameson C. The 8 inches above the bed sounds good, but that device, C78ZV, only fits a gooseneck hitch option with the round shank. I have the B&W Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch that accepts the square shank. Curt has some expensive options. There are other compatible choices. But I think the square shank is a better option for the added torque. I would hope Curt might develop a different C78ZV with the square shank. Maybe Gen-Y might change their gooseneck ball. I pull a Jayco North Point 310 RLTS 5th wheel trailer. My trailer has the Gen-Y pin box, the Executive GH-8055AL.

@AlbertC ah bummer yeah I didn't realize you had a B and W Turnoverball gooseneck. That really limits you to using only one of their hitch balls. Sometimes people have luck lifting their trailer suspension to combat the issue you have.

@JamesonC Thank you. Do you recall something about the ISR Foot extender? A while back one of my tow friends use a slider hitch on ISR rails. I was advised to check into these feet that went between the slider feet and the ISR. IT was described to me as a 1" foot that slipped over the hitch foot. Raising the hitch 1" above the ISR. PullRite had a High Rise Foot, but it doesn't fit my application. I did look into the RockerBall 2-5/16" Cushion Hitch Gooseneck Ball #60654 since it fits into my Gooseneck hitch, but did not want to give up the off-set. I tow with a 2015 RAM 3500 6.7L Diesel with a 36" CA.

@AlbertC That kind of game me an idea. So to get extra height you could use the Curt X5 adapter part # 16310 for a set of ISR rails and then the Curt Spyder part # 16085 in those rails and you would have a much higher gooseneck ball.
