Question:
Not familiar with “marine grade aluminum”. Like 316 aluminum? I am specifically curious about durability for use in saltwater. Of course rinse with fresh water after every use but saltwater is hard on ferrous parts like spring pins and nuts and bolts. Also will the tires take rough abuse from barnacle encrusted oyster beds? I’d love to have the nicely raked sandy beach shown in the video.

Hey Richard! Malone doesn't specify the exact aluminum alloy, so I can't confirm whether it's from the 5000 or 6000 series. What they do specify is marine-grade anodized aluminum with corrosion-resistant stainless steel hardware, and your plan to rinse everything with fresh water after saltwater use is exactly what I'd recommend.
For barnacle-encrusted oyster beds, I'd actually go with the Malone WideTrakAT # MPG521 instead. Its 12" no-flat tires are designed for rocky, rough terrain, so there's no inflatable tire to puncture on a sharp shell. And unfortunately, being here in Missouri, our local beaches don't offer us many barnacle-encrusted oyster beds for testing. We have to make do with that suspiciously nice sand you saw in the video.
What kind of kayak do you have?
