Hi, I am looking for roof rack cross bars for my 2021 Toyota Highlander LE Hybrid. I need it to be strong enough to mount a roof top tent. I currently have the factory cross bars but their weight limit is 165 lbs if I’m not mistaken. I need something that can hold more weight.

Hi Jasmin,
To replace your Toyota OEM roof rack, I suggest using the Yakima SkyLine Roof rack with HD Crossbars part # Y65BB. The HD crossbars are Yakima's heavy-duty crossbars made entirely of aluminum so they're light weight but strong. This roof rack system is rated for up to 500lbs which is significantly higher than the 165lb rated OEM bars so it'll easily be able to hold a roof top tent.
Toyota lists the roof weight capacity at 165lbs when driving but doesn't list a static weight, though the static weight capacity is higher you'll want to reach out to Toyota directly to confirm that you're not overloading the roof.
