E2 Error Code and Max of 4 Volts with a Hopkins Brake Controller Troubleshooting

Question:

My controller is brand new out of the box I have 4 volts on blue wire cut it like you said still 4 volts is it bad out of the box. e2 code hopkins

If you severed the blue wire of your brake controller and with the controller turned up all the way and with the manual lever fully slid you are still only seeing 4 volts with the e2 error then it would seem that the controller is broken.

The Hopkins brake controller are kind of notorious for being easy to break. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
