Does Vitrifrigo RV Refrigerator w/ Freezer Require Exterior Ventilation

Updated 07/24/2026 | Published 07/23/2026

Question:

I have looked at the manual, and it appears that some Vitrifigos vent to inside the coach, while others require one or two very specifically placed vent openings to outside. What are the venting requirements for this fridge? If it requires external venting, are there panels available? Which Vitrifigos vent to the inside?

Hey Cecile! The Vitrifrigo RV Refrigerator w/ Freezer # VT96FR is a compressor refrigerator. This means it does not require the upper and lower exterior wall vents used by absorption style RV refrigerators. It just needs adequate airflow around the back of the unit for proper cooling.

I don't have a comprehensive list of every fridge that vents to the inside. However, it is pretty standard for their compressor refrigerators, like this one, to vent to the inside while their absorption models are the ones that require exterior vent openings.

What kind of refrigerator are you replacing?
