Question:
I would like to mount a roof/cargo rack on my MR2 Spyders rear hood. Yakima or Rhino. I would cut the cross bars to fit the width. The weight load will be low. I feel for the price, this would be better then the after market racks sold specifically for this purpose. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey James. The SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack item # 298-SX6000B is the only option I have to add a set of crossbars to your MR2 Spyder's trunk. The suction cups will securely grip the metal trunk top and provide a strong mounting point. The suction cups will not damage the paint. I don't have or know of a way to attach Yakima or Rhino-Rack crossbars to anything but a roof top.
The SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack item # 298-SX6000B are 48" long x 1-1/4" diameter and have a 150 lbs capacity. This is our least expensive option.
What kind of gear do you plan on using the crossbars for?
