It also needs a steady water flow of at least 0.8 gallons per minute to ignite and keep heating properly. If the water pressure is too low, or if something like a restrictive water filter reduces the flow, the burner may not stay lit or the unit may not operate as expected.

For the best performance, I recommend setting your water pressure regulator to around 50 to 55 PSI. That typically provides the right balance of pressure and flow for reliable operation.
