What Parts Do I Need to Run My Propane BBQ off my RV's Propane?

Updated 07/21/2026 | Published 07/08/2026

Question:

Hi, I need to connect my propane bbq that accepts the 1lb cylinders to my rv quick connect propane line. I have a braided line with the quick connect fitting that goes to the rv. I need the fitting that would be male essentially the same as a 1 lb propane bottle for the other end. What part number?

Hi David,

Because both the RV propane and the BBQ grill have a regulator, there isn't a male adapter that goes directly from a male 1-lb bottle thread to an RV quick-connect. Typically, you'd need to find a fitting specific to the grill that you have. Running the propane through two regulators results in really low pressure to the point where you many not be able to light the grill or have a really small flame. Instead, if you want to run your propane BBQ off of your RV's propane tanks, you'll need to use the MB Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting with Quick Disconnect Ports part # 103537-MBS and the MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Hose part # 100304-120-MBS. The Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting will attach to the propane tank and the regulator. The quick disconnect will allow you to run the 10' long adapter hose directly to the BBQ grill.

What grill do you use when you're camping?

Hi Claire. Thank you very much for thr response. We have the Coleman Roadtrip 285. I took a closer look and I see the built in regulator. Do you know if there is any way of removing that regulator and bypassing? If so do you sell any parts that I need? David

@DavidB I took a look at some of the specs for the Coleman Roadtrip 285 and it looks like removing the built-in regulator would require a lot of modification because the connection uses proprietary threading that has no standard aftermarket fitting for. It would be best to bypass the regulator by installing the MB Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting with Quick Disconnect Ports part # 103537-MBS (before the regulator) and then using a hose MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Quick Disconnect Hose part # 100304-120-MBS to connect to the grill.
