Base Plate For A 1992 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4

Updated 06/25/2026 | Published 06/23/2026

Question:

Hi there, I need a baseplate to flat tow a 1992 Nissan Pathfinder 5spd 4x4. The website shows a Roadmaster option but I can’t tell from the photos how it works. I currently have a Roadmaster direct connect on my 2016 Ford Focus. Is this a universal mount that needs additional hardware? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks

Hi Kendall!

The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms # 305-3 bolts directly to the frame on your 1992 Nissan Pathfinder. We haven't had the chance to install this as of yet, so no install video, but the instructions will go over everything pretty well. From reading them, it actually looks like a pretty straightforward and easy install.

Now if you meant how the base plate attaches to the tow bar, you would need to also grab the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars # 910021-00. This will allow your current direct connect tow bars to attach to the base plate. It basically turns the base plate into a direct connect style base plate, for the lack of a better way to describe it.

If you don't already have the wiring picked out, the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267 is what I almost always recommend. It comes with everything you need and with it being a 6-Way that goes on your Pathfinder, it has the ports needed to add a brake system. If you need a new one of those, just let me know and I can help you find the one that will work best for you.

What kind of RV are you going to be towing your Pathfinder with?
