Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2006 Honda CR-V Behind 2012 Tiffin Open Road 35QBA

Updated 06/27/2026 | Published 06/22/2026

Question:

We have a new-to-us 2012 Tiffin Open Road 35QBA, and we have a 2006 CRV we are attempting to get ready to flat-tow. Would you be able to put a quote together for me for all the components we would need to flat-tow that vehicle? After watching Endless RVing latest video they showed a cheaper solution with your own re-branded bars, etc. I am not afraid of DIY installs but would like to save as much money as possible on the setup. This CRV would likely not be a permeant solution either, likely only this year. There are a lot of components on your site and it is a bit confusing to know which parts I would need for that specific vehicle/RV. Thank you very much for your time and help on a full quote.

Hey Michael! I would be happy to put everything together for you here. You will need a tow bar, base plate, safety cables wiring, and brake system for a complete setup. I recommend the following:

-Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518180

-etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e94ZR (includes safety cables)

-etrailer Tow Bar Cover # e76FV (optional)

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267

-Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch for Towed Vehicles # RM76511

-Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System # BLU37TR

-12 Volt Outlet Kit, 20 amps # RM-9332

The tow bar will carry over to your new vehicle with any etrailer or Demco base plate kit. Adapters are available if you switch to a different brand for the base plate. It also has a built in rise/drop to keep you level without the use of a high-low adapter.

I gave you the tow bar with the higher rating so you're covered if you end up with a heavier vehicle. The Patriot is a portable brake system so it will be super easy to transfer over to a new vehicle as well.

Where are you headed once you get everything installed and ready to go?
