Question:
I’m new to flat towing and keep seeing “tow bar” and “base plate.” Which ones do I actually need to connect my car behind my motorhome? 2024 jeep wrangler. factory bumper.

Good question, Linda! The base plate is the custom-fit part that bolts to the frame of your towed vehicle. The tow bar is the part that connects the base plate to the motorhome’s hitch receiver.
For the Ultra-Fab tow bars, you’ll choose the tow bar based on the base plate brand. If your vehicle has Roadmaster base plates, you’d use # UF35XR for 8,000 lbs or # UF45XR for 12,000 lbs. If your vehicle has Blue Ox base plates, you’d use # UF55XR for 8,000 lbs or # UF95XR for 12,000 lbs.
For your 2024 Wrangler we have Roadmaster base plates # RM-521453-5 and Blue Ox base plates # BX1139.
A complete flat tow setup also needs safety cables, tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter to keep the tow bar level. These Ultra-Fab tow bars include safety cables, so that’s one piece already covered. If you tell me the year, make, model, and trim of your vehicle, Linda, I can help you figure out the rest of the setup unless you already have some other parts of the setup. :)
