Roadmaster Comfort Ride System for Toy Hauler With 6k Axles
Updated 06/09/2026 | Published 05/28/2026 >
Question:
I have a toy hauler bumper pull that is rated 13,000lbs but has 6,000lb axles. I want to upgrade the springs but want to get the correct kit. I only tow with my SXS in so I am sure I am close to the max weight all the time. Looking at Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers - Tandem 6K Trailer Axles. Thanks

Hey Mark! The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shock Absorbers # RM49NQ is the correct kit for your toy hauler. This is designed for 3" diameter axles and has leaf springs rated for your toy hauler.
If you're worried about your GVWR, it is typically a little over the combined capacity of the axles because the tongue weight/pin weight of trailers doesn't sit on the axles. This is one of the best upgrades you can make, and will make a major difference in your ride quality and overall towing experience.
What kind of toy hauler do you have?

We installed the Roadmaster-shock kit in Dec. Best thing we ever did. Took the RV 5000 over the 3 months and after towing for 40 years cannot understand why this wouldn't just be standard set up. On thing to keep in mind after talking to a few people is the bushings, keep the Roadmaster do not upgrade to wet bolts. They may void the lifetime warranty.
