Question:
Can I use one of these RV Designer safety pins on my trailer coupler while I’m towing, or do I need something that actually locks with a key? I don't really care about locking since it's never in public spots.

Hey Angela! For towing, the RV Designer Safety Lock Pin # RD72GR or # RD22GR can work great as long as the size matches your coupler. These are snapper-style safety pins, so they’re designed to help keep the coupler latch secured during transit.
They are not the same thing as a keyed coupler lock, though. A keyed lock is the better choice if you’re trying to add theft deterrence while the trailer is parked. These RV Designer pins are more about keeping the latch pinned in place while you’re hooked up and towing.
The # RD72GR has a 1/4" diameter with a 2-1/2" usable length, and the # RD22GR has the same 1/4" diameter with a longer 3-1/2" usable length. Angela, if you can measure the width of your coupler latch area, we can help you pick the better fit.
