Standalone AC Kit For Rear Garage Bay Of Toy Hauler That Has It's Own Manual Controls, No Thermostat

Published 05/13/2026

Question:

My race trailer has living quarters up front, but the rear bay gets hot when we’re parked at events. I want to add a separate AC back there with simple controls that don't affect other ac unit. Would the Coleman-Mach ductless kit make sense? thanks! want a good quality ac kit. No off-brands.

Hey Soren! Yes, the Coleman-Mach # CM73RR makes a lot of sense for that kind of separate rear-bay setup. It’s a complete ductless 15,000 Btu system, so it includes the rooftop AC and the matching air distribution box with controls right at the ceiling.

That means it does not need to tie into the thermostat for the living quarters. As long as that rear area has the proper framed roof opening and wiring for an AC, this gives you a self-contained cooling setup for that space. It's also a leading brand and very reliable setup, so it's definitely not an off-brand setup. You can also add the Coleman-Mach heater kit # CM96RR later if you want light electric heat. Is that rear bay already AC-prepped, Soren? If not, you'll need a bit of prep work and wiring to get you there.
