Adding AC Unit To Horse Trailer Build - Ductless Where Air Blows From Ceiling Unit

Published 05/12/2026

Question:

I’m adding AC to a horse trailer build and don’t have any existing AC parts. I just want a full ductless setup with good cooling where it blows out of the ac unit in ceiling. What would you pick?

Good morning Malik, for a new ductless install I’d look at the Coleman-Mach Signature Mach 15 # CM73RR. It’s a complete 15,000 Btu system, so it includes the rooftop unit and the matching ceiling air distribution box.

You’ll get simple ceiling controls and direct airflow without needing ductwork. It also fits the standard 14-1/4 inch x 14-1/4 inch AC roof opening and can use the Coleman-Mach heater kit # CM96RR if you want light electric heat later. Are you cutting a new opening, Malik, or using an existing roof vent? It sounds like you'll be doing it from scratch. Just make sure you follow the instructions and you'll be all set.

Just to be sure, are you setting this trailer up with shore power (115V AC)? That is what this AC unit requires.
