AC Unit Option For Enclosed Camper Conversion

Published 05/07/2026

Question:

I’m adding AC to a small enclosed camper conversion and don’t have ceiling ducts. Would the Coleman-Mach Mach 15 ductless system be overkill, or is the extra cooling worth it?

Hey Luis! The Coleman-Mach # CM73RR is the full ductless 15,000 Btu system, so it’s a strong option if you’re cooling one open area and want direct airflow from the ceiling assembly. It includes the rooftop unit and matching ductless air distribution box, so you won’t need to piece together the ceiling controls separately. You also won't need to run wiring for a thermostat since it's all contained inside the ceiling controls :).

For a smaller camper, 15K Btu can be a lot of cooling, but in Arizona heat that extra capacity can be a good thing if the camper is insulated well and the roof can handle the install. It fits a standard 14-1/4 inch x 14-1/4 inch roof opening and gives you manual ceiling controls with adjustable dampers. You'll just need to cut this out and do some modifications to your custom build.

This one is also prepped for the Coleman-Mach Electric Heat Kit # CM96RR if you want light electric heat later. What size is the camper, Luis, and are the walls/roof insulated yet?
