Recommended Baseplate for a 1996 Toyota Tacoma

Updated 04/24/2026 | Published 04/23/2026

Question:

I have a ‘96 Tacoma 4WD and a Falcon 2 tow bar. I need to know which base plate will work with this setup. Looking at the Roadmaster 1133-1 but by the pictures I’m not sure the Falcon 2 is compatible. Please advise.

Hey Daniel, welcome back! To flat tow your 1996 Toyota Tacoma with a Falcon 2 tow bar item # RM-520, I recommend the Blue Ox item # BX3728 along with the Roadmaster Tow Bar Adapter Brackets for Blue Ox Base Plates item # RM-031.

The item # RM-031 adapters will bolt directly to the end of your Falcon 2 item # RM-520. The included pins will make connecting and disconnecting to the Blue Ox Base Plate item # BX3728 a quick and simple process.

If you were to go with the Roadmaster item # 1133-1 you referenced you would also need to use the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly item # 910021-00 to connect it to your Falcon 2 item # RM-520. It'll work, you would just need to purchase a more cumbersome adapter.

Here are the rest of the parts you'll need to flat tow your 1996 Toyota Tacoma:

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord item # RM-15267

Supplemental Braking System - Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes item # SM99251

What kind of motorhome do you have?
