Question:

RE: Erickson Trailer Winch - 120V AC - 1,500 lbs Part Number: EM22HV Have you confirmed the line speed and capacity, NOT just what is advertised? They seem really high, awesome if they really are accurate. The specs: Line pull at 1,500 lbs: Power draw: 8.8amps Line speed: 13-3/4FPM With gratitude Bryan

Hey Bryan, thanks for reaching out. Here’s the deal on that Erickson # EM22HV winch. The listed spec of 13-3/4 feet per minute at 1,500 lbs with an 8.8 amp draw is straight from the manufacturer data, and it’s consistent across listings and testing info.

At no load, it jumps way up to about 34.5 FPM at only 1.8 amps, which tells you exactly what’s going on: it’s geared for speed more than brute torque.

I'll be honest, this is not something we have physically tested here at our shop, but typically those manufacturer numbers are pretty accurate and not falsely advertised. It will hit those numbers under the right conditions. It’s a quick little winch for light duty, not a grunt puller. If your application is clean, straight pulls on something that rolls easy, it’ll feel fast. If you’re expecting it to act like a 12V 3K or 4K winch, it’s not that kind of animal.

What will you be using the winch for mostly?
