Question:

Looking for a VERY low-profile roof rack for my 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST. The vehicle has existing embedded rails in the roof, just need the crossbars and whatever mounting gear is required to add it to the existing stock rails. Have very limited clearance into my garage, cannot use any solution that exceeds 3.5 above the Tahoe roof. Do you have or know of any solutions?

Hey Arthur, thanks for the information. The shortest roof rack I have for your 2023 Chevy Tahoe RST is the Inno Aero Flush Roof Rack for Flush Rails item # IN55JR. It's going to sit 3" above the top of your flush roof rails.

The Inno Aero Roof Rack item # IN55JR includes all the parts you'll need to attach the two crossbars to your Tahoe's roof rails. It has two 48" long x 3-1/8" wide x 1-1/8" tall crossbars with a 165 lbs capacity. The crossbars have a 13/16" wide top channel that allows you to attach accessories or you can clamp them around the bars.

Thank you for this info - I hope this is the solution I have been seeking, as there appear to be no others - at least that I've been able to find. So, in an abundance of caution, I'll specify the need another way, with lots more detail: There is a little less than 7" of clearance from the CENTER of the Tahoe RST roof to the garage opening header. The embedded roof rails are just inboard of the door tops, so the curvature of the Tahoe roof means that the clearance from the top of the embedded rails to the garage door opening header is also just shy of 7" (the embedded rails are about 1.5" tall). It seems this solution will allow me to install the crossbars into the embedded rails and still have about 2.5 inches clearance between the top of the crossbar and the garage opening header - at the mount point of the towers to the rails. IF the crossbars arch to match the curvature of the Tahoe roof, then the clearance at the center of the crossbars (and the center of the Tahoe roof) to the door opening header would be about 1" - too tight to mount any ski rack(s) on the crossbars and still be able to enter the garage. If the crossbars are flat, and do not arch to follow the roofline, then this just might work. The ski racks I plan to use are KUAT SWITCH 4 racks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081ZFNHS8?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 When they are folded flat, they are about 2" above the crossbar mount point. I am unaware of any other ski racks that fold flat when not in use, or that offer a lower-profile solution. So, a critical question is: Are the crossbars flat, or do they arch to match the vehicle rooftop? Seems like this is the crux of a go/no-go fit of this solution to my situation. Appreciate some feedback. And/or - given what I've described is what I am trying to do, is there another solution out there should this one not be feasible?
