Hi Erin, thanks for reaching out. I’m really glad you asked because getting the right T strap hinge on a 1999 Sooner makes a big difference in keeping that door aligned and swinging smoothly without any sag.
The T strap hinge you’re looking at with part # PLR3408 is a solid option, but with older trailers there can be small variations, so the best way to be confident is to compare its specs to what you currently have. What you’ll want to check is the overall strap length and width, the spacing between the mounting holes, and the diameter of the hinge pin or barrel.
Part # PLR3408, has an overall length of 9-5/8 inches. The bracket measures 4-1/2 inches tall by 1-5/8 inches wide with mounting holes spaced 3-1/4 inches center to center, and the holes themselves are 13/32 inches in diameter. The strap side is 8 inches long by 2 inches wide with mounting holes spaced 2-7/16 inches center to center, and it uses a 1/2 inch diameter pin.
If those measurements match what you currently have on your trailer, you should be in great shape for a proper fit and smooth operation. Even small differences in hole spacing or pin size can cause alignment issues, so it’s definitely worth double checking.
If you want a second set of eyes, feel free to send over your photos and I can help compare everything.
Out of curiousity, what kind of horses do you have?

I have quarter horses! Thanks for the reply. This hinge is 8 5/8” total length. 5 3/8” top to bottom. First two bolts are 2 1/2” apart and the other two on the end are 1 3/4”. These are all from center. Thanks!

I have a 2005 Thurobilt and used these to replace the manufacturer’s hinges, they’re great quality and work well.
