Solar Setup for 2018 Sunseeker 3050S With Inverter

Updated 04/14/2026 | Published 04/08/2026

Question:

I have a 2018 sunseeker 3050s and want a solar system for it. I have an exterior plug for solar panel but need a controller for the two house batteries and would also like a small probably 1000 watt inverter for small appliances. What would you recommend?

Hi David; that exterior solar plug is typically an SAE port like the Go Power # GP49QR. Those are designed for portable panels, so something like the # MA66JR would plug right in and work without any additional installation. That’s the easiest route if you’re just looking to supplement your batteries when you’re parked

If you’re wanting a more permanent setup with panels on the roof, check for an entry plate like # 34273840 on top of the motorhome. This typically has wiring that runs down to a designated spot inside for a controller. If that’s there, it makes the installation a lot easier. If you don't have an entry plate you will have to run the wire yourself and route it to your batteries.

For the solar setup I recommend the etrailer RV Solar Panel Kit w/ Digital PWM Controller # e99FV. This comes with two 200W panels and a 30A controller, which is a good match for a typical dual battery setup like two 100 Ah batteries and will give you solid charging capability while you’re off-grid. Then for an inverter I recommend the Progressive Dynamics # PD94FR. This includes a transfer switch so it will automatically change over from the inverter when you hook up to shore power.

Where are you headed with the Sunseeker once you get the solar installed?
