Question:

2026 Ioniq 5. Need wiring harness to allow me to put lights on my bike rack. The rack has a female end of a trailer hitch that gets locked into a hitch. No ball needed. What can I use?

Hey Robb, congrats on the new car. I checked with our vendors and the only wiring harness we have for the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the Curt item # C59236. This is a universal wiring harness that will need to be spliced into your tail light wires. There is no custom fit option that plugs in.

To install the Curt item # C59236 you'll need to use a Circuit Tester like item # PTW2992 to locate the individual brake, turn, and tail light wires that run to your rear lights. You'll then need to run the included power wire up to your Hyundai's battery and then find a suitable grounding source near the tail lights.

What kind of bike rack do you have and does your Ioniq 5 already have a hitch?

I'm still in search of a hitch, and more critically, somebody who is qualified to install it. Dealer's seemed to shy away from it. I need a two inch hitch for the car. I've got a Thule EasyFold XT Hitch Bikerack. On my 2014 MDX I bought a plug and and play setup from you. I mounted two red running lights (Curt 53201) to the rack, as well as an illuminated license plate holder, which mounts right where the Thule logo is above the step plate. Made me street legal . Worked great. Ive got some nice pics to share but can't attach. Sadly, no pics of it in operation. Ill be happy to allow you to use my pics if you help me with a solution.

@RobbF Thank you for all of that information! The Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit item # SH94CR is going to be the solution for adding a hitch and a wiring harness to your 2026 Ioniq 5. This is a 2" hitch with a removable receiver. When you're not hauling around your Easyfold item # TH903202 you can remove the receiver and you won't be able to tell you have installed an aftermarket hitch. The Curt Auxiliary LED Lights item # C53201 are going to plug into item # SH94CR included wiring harness.
