Installing Roof Top Tent On 2009 Cadillac Escalade With Factory Roof Rack

I am looking to install a rooftop tent on a 2009 cadillac escalade. It has the factory roof rails and cross bars, but I think I need to upgrade the cross bars. Do you know what crossbars I will need to support the rooftop tent and that will fit on the escalade?

Good morning Matt.
Your 2009 Cadillac Escalade with the factory roof rack appears to have a 200lb capacity - I do recommend double checking in your owner's manual. In this case, you can definitely install a roof tent as long as the tent weighs under 200lbs. The 200lb limit of roof racks is the dynamic (in motion) weight limit and they don't usually have a static (still) limit. You just need to look at that dynamic weight rating and go by that.
Most aftermarket crossbars aren't even going to be rated as much as your 200lb factory limit, so I'd just stick with that!
For a tent that fits your OEM rack, I'd look at the Yakima SkyRise SL Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars - 3 Person - 400 lbs - Olive Green # Y42QD or Yakima SkyRise HD Tent for Roof Rack Crossbars - 3 Person - 400 lbs - Olive # Y92QD. Both tents only weigh about 95-100lbs.

Thank you for the reply, but I am looking to see if there are aftermarket cross rails that fit a 2009 Escalade. I already know what rooftop tent I want, but I need different rails or crossbars for it. I am looking at the Topoak Galaxy Pro. Thanks for the help.
