Updated 02/11/2026 | Published 02/06/2026

Question:

I have a boat trailer with surge brakes and am interested in using the Parkit360 Force 10k to move the trailer. Will the Force 10K work on a trailer with surge brakes?

Hello Mike, thanks for reaching out, and good question. The Parkit360 Force Electric Trailer Dolly # PA46VR can potentially work with surge brake trailers, but it completely depends what type of actuator you have. The actuator must have a manual lockout feature. Otherwise pushing the trailer with the dolly will cause the brakes to actuate. If your actuator has an electric lockout, or no lockout, the tow dolly is not a workable option for that. You could only use the dolly to pull, not push.

Does your surge brake actuator have a reverse lockout feature?

Jesse, Thanks for the response. I am getting a new boat and called the dealer after I emailed my question. Yes, the trailer will have a manual lock out so the dolly should work. Can the dolly turn a tandem axle trailer?

@MikeH Ok perfect! The Parkit dolly will work great for that. Yes it can turn a tandem axle trailer just fine. We tested it here on a tandem axle Kodiak camper and it worked perfectly. It'll get the job done for really any trailer under 10,000 lbs. Take a look at this video you can see Matt testing it out.
