Will 50" Crossbars Work for Awning on 2025 Subaru Crosstrek

Question:

Hi. Is there a reason why the 53” bars only fit on the front portion of the raised rails? The video says to use 50” for more versatility to use on front or back portions. My question is, if I want to add an awning will the 50” bars work or will I need the 53”? This is on a 2025 crosstrek with raised rails. Thank you

Hey Manny, welcome back! The Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack # TH52ZA actually comes with a pair of 53" crossbars. You can use them on the front and the rear. The 50" crossbars that come with # TH54ZA will work as well. As far as an awning is concerned, that depends on the particular awning you plan on using.

An awning like the Rhino-Rack 180 Freestanding Batwing Awning # RR83AG doesn't require a particular amount of overhang. The important part is the crossbar spread. You will need to check the installation instructions for the awning you want to use and make sure the rack meets the requirements.

Looking at the pictures we have of the 50" bars I would say there is enough overhang that most awnings would sit in a nice spot for use after installation without moving to the longer bars. Did you have a particular awning in mind?
