If you’re juggling multiple vehicles, especially trucks, stepping up to the Projecta 1,400A # VX73NR or even the 2,000A # VX23NR can make life easier. The # VX23NR adds 24V capability, which opens the door to heavier equipment down the road.

That said, many families do just fine with a # VX63NR 1,200A as a do-everything option for cars and light trucks. It really comes down to how diverse your fleet is.

What’s the largest vehicle or battery you expect to jump? These are all compatible with a variety of batteries such as lead acid, lithium, AGM, etc.

I don’t jump vehicles every week, but when I need one, I really don’t want to be wondering if I bought enough power. Is there a downside to going bigger than I need?

@Rachel Hey Rachel! With jump starters, the downside to going a little bigger is usually just size and cost - functionally, there’s no penalty. You’re not forcing extra power into the vehicle's battery; it only draws what it needs. If you have big truck batteries or something of that realm, I'd lean towards the 1,400A or 2,000A Projecta jump starters - it removes the guesswork and still works just fine on smaller cars. If you want one jump starter you won’t second-guess later, going a bit bigger is usually the safer move. Now if you literally have 2 cars with small capacity batteries, there's no harm in just using the lower amperage ones like the 900A or 1,200A. Those will do just fine for that.
